One of the defining goals of the church is to transform men. We welcome all men to join on a weekly basis. We meet at 12 noon on Tuesdays and Thursday.
It was Paul who said in Romans 12, 1-2 the following:
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Christian lay counseling serves as a vital resource within the church, promoting healing, growth, and a stronger sense of community among members.
The purpose of our ministry is to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to fellow church members facing personal, emotional, or spiritual challenges. We often draw on biblical principles, prayer, and our own life experiences to help you navigate difficulties.
Our youth group is about bringing Christ into our young people. To teach them the word of God. Through music and song, youth can do performances through the arts, song dance, and plays. Youth present their talents during first Sunday activities.
So how does the gospel message change when talking with teenagers and college students question the message never changes it is the same for all people in all places, but our approach and sharing the gospel with students can have a great impact on how they receive the message. Keep the following in mind as you reach out to this generation: don't assume they will accept your definition of truth, students have been immersed in a postmortem culture that says what is true for you may not be true for me. They can accept that there are multiple truths, even if those truths are dramatically opposed to each other. Simply quoting scripture to them may not be a be the place to start, because they may not initially accept that the truth of scripture is a truth that applies to all of them.
We want you to tell us your story. We can use scripture the their sense of truth. The bible says there is one truth:
Malaachi 3:6 – For I the lord do not change.
Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
The women's arm of our Varick AME Zion church is responsible for promoting missionary activities around the world. This ministry welcomes and includes all women from our youngest up to adults and seniors.
Leadership is crucial for a thriving ministry. We need women who are passionate about serving others and growing in their faith. Good leaders inspire, encourage, and equip others to serve.
Community is what sets women’s ministry apart. It’s not just about programs. It’s about creating a place where women feel loved, accepted, and supported.
It’s beautiful to see different generations coming together. Older women have so much wisdom to share. Younger women bring fresh energy and perspectives.
“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children.” (Titus 2:3-4, NKJV)
This scripture reminds us of the value in inter-generational relationships. Women of Varick AVL, let’s come together to deepen our faith, fellowship, mentor and serve others.
